Being a website about basil, pesto is obviously going to be something prominent on the site.  Of the various pesto recipes, this may be the easiest one to put together. If you are pressed for time, give this simple recipe a try.


  • 2 cups fresh basil leaves
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled
  • 1/2 cup pine nuts
  • 1/3 cup Parmesan cheese
  • a squeeze of fresh lemon juice
  • salt, to taste


Roast garlic cloves and pine nuts on a baking sheet in a preheated 375 F oven for about 5 minutes. Put all the ingredients in a food processor (or blender), and presto - PESTO!
