This basil butter recipe is so easy, versatile and delicious that you should always have at least one batch on hand.
Place it on your table when you have guests for dinner. It is a wonderful way to create upscale bread and butter. Tuck pats of this butter under the skin of chicken or turkey before roasting. Serve a pat on top of steak. Use it anywhere you would normally use butter, but add lots of fresh herb flavor at the same time.
Ingredients:
1 stick, unsalted butter
salt and pepper, to taste
1/2 cup chopped, fresh basil leaves
Preparation:
Bring the stick of butter to room temperature so that it is very soft and easy to work with. Place the stick of butter into a mixing bowl, add remaining ingredients and mix well to combine.
Scrape the mixture out onto a sheet of waxed paper and shape into a log. Wrap the log int the waxed paper and place inside a zip top freezer bag. Refrigerate until ready to use or freeze if you have no immediate need.
* You can use this same method to make any herb butter recipe. Just substitute your favorite fresh herb, or a combination of herbs, in place of the basil and you can create a whole new taste sensation.
