Chocolate Brie Puffs
Never thought of basil with dessert? Chocolate Brie Puffs are a wonderfully simple and unusual appetizer/dessert recipe using basil. When Scott from Get Together Gourmet was challenged by his gourmet cooking club in Florida to come up with something a little different for their chocolate themed gathering in February, Scott came up with this recipe and was an instant hit.
As delicious as it looks in the picture, it taste even better. You will want to give this one a try for sure. If you have other desserts that can be made with basil, please share them! You can do this at the bottom of the Basil Recipes page. We welcome any of your basil recipes, but, since we are talking about desserts here, would appreciate you adding to the collection found here.

Ingredients
- 1 sheet puff pastry dough, thawed
- 3 oz. brie
- 3 oz bittersweet chocolate chips
- 3T basil, chiffonade
Directions
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Roll out puff pastry to a 12" x 12" square. Use a 3" round cutter to make 12 rounds. PLace rounds on a parchment lined baking shet. Switch to a 2" cutter, center on rounds and press. DO NOT REMOVE CENTERS. Use a fork to dock interior circles only (this will cause the edges to rise).
Trim rind off of brie and cut into 12 pieces. Place 3-4 chocolate chips in center of pastry rounds. Top with piece of brie. Bake for 12-15 minites. Remove from oven and top with basil.
Thy're fine served at room temperature, but exceptionally good when served warm.
Serves 3-4.
