During a recent stay at the Ritz Carlton on Lake Oconee, Ga, my husband and I were served a wonderful honey with African Blue Basil in it. We were so impressed by it that the chef brought us a cutting of the basil as well as a jar of the special honey he had made to take home. We also met with the gardener who gave us tips on growing our own. He also expalined to us that a chef from South Africa had brought a cutting with him and now it grows prolific in the Ritz herb garden. It needs little care and grows so well it must be cut back frequently. I have 4 plants now growing and have used the basil in many dishes.
